STUDY HISTORY, STUDY HISTORY

History repeats itself and the camera man did repeat it for all of us. I'm glad that my barely three year old son was able to witness History at very early stage.  My family and I were lucky to visit a place where our National Hero (Dr. Jose Rizal) got exiled in Dapitan City. Acting as the tour guide as well, the camera man showed us the place and well since he’s the camera man he took the pictures (it still makes me smile when I remember the way he did it – one, two, smile!) He was very kind to give us the details as we explored the so called Rizal Shrine.

Despite the itinerary fell at noontime, the air was refreshing as we were surrounded by trees, some were even planted by Rizal himself.
As we were lurking around, I was trying to retrieve what had been taught in our Rizal subject during high school but no memory ever flashed back. I was busy on probing the site and of course posing for picture taking.

We took a peek at Rizal's bedroom but dared not try to lie on it. There was also two of his clinics made of nipa and bamboo. It's where he did the medical procedure for his mom's eye.  One of the nipa hut was used a free school for the children. He was blessed to have his pool during his stay there. Yes his own private olympic size pool.

I was surprised, no I guess refreshed to learn that in Dapitan is where the love between Rizal and Josephine Bracken blossomed. They even have a giant heart shaped stone as symbol of their love.

behind this heart-shaped stone is a river...romantic

huh? who's missing?
waiting for the ship to bring us home, front row- my hubby (busy texting), the ever sweet hannah, and mr. nice guy, ramon

We are all bone tired for our History adventure yet we still managed to smile and excited to go home, tell our folks everything from our Dakak and Dapitan Escapade.

It's cold and wet outside. Sitting in a room alone has brought me childhood memories. On weather like this, my friends and I used to go out and play splashing with water. We ran until our cold feet soaked to water and looked very clean.  Oh! how I missed those days.

Things changed when you get old and have your own family. Movies, shopping, television, eat out (anytime you want), Gym, long bath -  all scratched out in the list. One thing I can't get out from the system though is Books, no, never, life seems so dull and lousy without some good reads. Speaking of which, just finished the Game of Thrones (Book One).

I never get good impressions on war from the old times where thousands and thousand of warriors are fighting  using weapons like axes, swords, etc. so gross to see pools of blood and heads scattering after the clash. Though some fights are described in brutal way, I was able to picture out the scenes without having my stomach churning. I like every character though there are a hundred of them I was able to identify each one. The ending has left me dangled and it made me look forward for the next series and see what becomes of the characters.

I've seen some clips of HBO adaptations, awesome!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4PFbDxj0Fs  I've got to finish the film before I continue the second chapter of the Clash of Kings, yeah, just started the second book.

Somebody's calling mom.. that's my son... got to go...
